By accessing and using InnerWords ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

InnerWords is a daily word puzzle game where players create new words using contiguous letter sequences. The Service includes daily challenges, leaderboards, score tracking, and archive features.

3. User Conduct

When using the Service, you agree to:

  • Play fairly: Do not use automated bots, scripts, or cheating tools
  • Use appropriate names: Player names must not be offensive, vulgar, hateful, or impersonate others
  • Respect rate limits: Do not spam score submissions or abuse the leaderboard system
  • No exploitation: Do not attempt to exploit bugs, vulnerabilities, or game mechanics
  • Follow the law: Comply with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws

4. Prohibited Activities

You are expressly prohibited from:

  • Using offensive, obscene, or inappropriate player names
  • Submitting fake, fraudulent, or manipulated scores
  • Attempting to reverse engineer, decompile, or hack the Service
  • Overloading servers with excessive requests or automated traffic
  • Impersonating other players or creating multiple accounts to manipulate rankings
  • Collecting or harvesting other users' data without consent
  • Using the Service for any commercial purposes without authorization

5. Leaderboard Submissions

By submitting a score to the leaderboard, you acknowledge that:

  • Your player name and score will be publicly visible
  • Scores are permanent and cannot be easily deleted (except by contacting support)
  • We reserve the right to remove scores that violate these terms
  • We may implement rate limiting to prevent abuse

6. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of InnerWords (including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, game mechanics, and software) are owned by InnerWords and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without explicit permission.

7. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms of Service or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Your use of the Service is at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, InnerWords and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service.

10. Data Loss and Availability

We strive to maintain reliable service, but we cannot guarantee 100% uptime or data preservation. We are not responsible for lost scores, progress, or data due to technical failures, maintenance, or unforeseen circumstances. We recommend not relying on the Service for critical data storage.

11. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
